How to Write a Winning Scholarship Essay
Written by Zain Aqdas, Founder and lead researcher, Scholarships AtlasPublished 10 August 2026
A scholarship essay answers three questions: who you are, why this opportunity, and what you will do with it. Start with a concrete story. A project, a problem you solved, or a moment that shaped your goals. Show, don't tell. Instead of "I am passionate about public health", describe the clinic you volunteered at and what you learned. Address the prompt directly, respect the word limit, and proofread twice. Have someone else read it before you submit.
