University of Manchester

Manchester runs one of the more distinctive international scholarship programs in the UK. Its Equity and Merit scholarships fund master's students from a defined list of developing countries, covering fees, living costs and flights, and they are awarded in partnership with the countries' governments and employers, so the application route runs through those partners rather than a Manchester portal. The Bicentenary PhD studentships and the Manchester Master's Bursary, both on this page, cover the university's other main funding streams.

Doctoral funding at Manchester is built on UK research council studentships plus the university's own bicentenary and faculty awards, and most funded PhD places are attached to projects or supervisors. Taught postgraduate students meet a large set of faculty scholarships and fee awards, many of which appear below with their own deadlines.

The provider and eligibility lines separate the three worlds on this page: national partnership awards, university doctoral funding and faculty scholarships. Manchester publishes current rounds through its scholarship pages, and each card links to the office that owns the award, where the real deadline and application route are stated.
