Scholarship Guides British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM (UK): How to Apply
UK · Application Guide
The British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM fund women from eligible countries to study a full-time postgraduate (master's) degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics at a participating UK university. You apply directly to the university, which runs its own application and shortlist. The British Council does not accept applications itself. Roughly four scholarships are available at each partner university.

The British Council publishes the list of eligible countries and the participating UK universities for each cycle on its Women in STEM scholarship page. Review which universities offer scholarships and which courses are covered.
Apply directly to the university for a place on an eligible STEM postgraduate course, completing the university's application (some universities require you to apply for the scholarship in the same application or a separate scholarship form; follow that university's instructions).
Each university runs its own scholarship selection: you apply to the British Council Women in STEM scholarship at that university, and the university shortlists candidates to nominate to the British Council.
The university nominates its chosen candidates, and the British Council confirms the awards. If selected, you must hold an offer of admission to the course.
Scholars begin their STEM master's in September/October, joining the Women in STEM network. (For the 2026-27 cycle applications opened 16 January 2026 and closed 30 April 2026.)
