South China University of Technology

South China University of Technology (SCUT) is unusual among Chinese universities in that almost every international funding route it participates in is visible on this page. The Chinese Government Scholarship appears here in both its general form and its Youth of Excellence Scheme, which funds master's study for working professionals, and SCUT is a designated host for both. The Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship adds a provincial layer for students at universities in Guangdong, and SCUT runs its own International Scholarship for Excellence on top of those.

That stacking is the thing to understand about funding in Guangzhou: the national, provincial and university awards cover different cost combinations and have separate application channels. CSC awards are applied for through the CSC portal, the provincial scholarship is administered through the university's international office, and the SCUT excellence award is a university decision. A student can in principle hold one of each kind, although in practice the combinations depend on the current year's rules.

The deadline on each card tells you which channel it belongs to, because the three routes open at different times of year. Before applying, confirm the current category and documents on the SCUT international students pages, linked from each card, since the provincial and university awards restate their terms annually.
