Fully Funded Master's Scholarships 2026 for International Students
Written by Zain Aqdas, Founder and lead researcher, Scholarships AtlasPublished 20 August 2026
A fully funded master's scholarship covers tuition and living costs, and sometimes travel and insurance, so you can focus on your degree instead of how to pay for it. The most international of these is Erasmus Mundus, which funds joint master's programmes delivered by several European universities.
Government programmes are the other pillar: Chevening in the UK, Australia Awards, the Swedish Institute Scholarships, and the Stipendium Hungaricum in Hungary all fully fund master's study for international students. Each has its own eligibility rules. Many target specific nationalities or fields, so the filter that matters is your own situation.
Universities also fund master's students directly through merit scholarships and departmental grants. These often receive fewer applications than government awards, which can make them comparatively easier to win.
For 2026, start early. The biggest programmes close 6 to 12 months before the academic year begins. Use the study level and funding filters to build a shortlist of master's scholarships you're eligible for, then verify the details on each official provider page.
