Funding at Oxford works in layers, and it helps to know which layer an award belongs to before applying. The central layer is the university's own scholarship office, which runs large cross-faculty schemes such as the Clarendon Fund, a graduate award open to every subject and nationality that covers fees and a living grant. The college layer sits underneath it: each college administers its own small awards and travel and hardship funds for its members. Faculty and department awards make up the third layer, and these are the ones usually tied to a specific field.
The fourth layer is external, and Oxford expects applicants to look there too. National and regional schemes such as the Rhodes Scholarship, the Commonwealth Scholarships for students from Commonwealth countries, and the China Scholarship Council's Oxford awards all bring students to Oxford each year, and in many cases they combine with a college or university award rather than excluding one. Chevening works the same way for applicants the UK government funds.
The records below are mostly the university-managed and named awards. Each card states its own funding type, level and deadline, so the fastest way to build a realistic shortlist is to filter by your level and read the funding line on the few that fit. Oxford's own scholarship pages remain the authority on who is eligible and when each round closes.
